Injectables

Our skin gets much of its structure and volume from a layer of collagen and hyaluronic acid (HA). These two substances are common and freshly regenerated while we are young. However, the older we get, the more we experience collagen loss, resulting in sagging skin and loss of volume.
Dermal fillers are gels made from naturally occurring hyaluronic acid; these gels are injected into areas of the skin where this collagen loss has occurred. Not only does this give a temporary boost to the health and volume of your skin, but it also stimulates collagen production. A typical facial fillers treatment takes less than an hour.

Benefits of Fillers

  • Safe

  • Excellent treatment for brow wrinkles and glabella folds

  • Boost the skin's supply of hyaluronic acid

  • Revitalize and add volume to the skin

  • Diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

A loss of hyaluronic acid and collagen is one of the reasons that skin elasticity decreases as we age. Sun exposure, lifestyle choices, weight, and hereditary factors are other reasons that your skin might be more prone to wrinkles and early symptoms of aging.

Dermal fillers can be used to help reduce fine lines, wrinkles, furrows, sagging skin, and other signs of aging. Dermal fillers can also be used to restore hyaluronic acid levels within your skin. These injections are used to hydrate, soften, and increase the volume of your skin. The result is younger, healthier, fuller, and tighter skin that will leave you looking and feeling confident.

Lips

Results in an instant that can last through 5 years.

You can start enjoying your results the day of your treatment and through 5 years afterward, with minimal or no touch-up visits required.

Sooner or later, facial aging catches up with us all. Although injectable fillers are often the preferred treatment for lines and wrinkles, many of them yield results that are temporary and require repeat treatments. Bellafill is different. Its ingredients provide volume that's both instant and lasting - so you no longer have to decide between looking great now or looking great later. You can have both!

Lips and Vertical Lip Lines-Add subtle volume to lips and soften vertical lip lines

Radiesse & Belotero

Dermal fillers that are FDA-approved to smooth moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds (creases that extend from the corner of your nose to the corner of your mouth). RADIESSE is also used to correct volume loss in the back of the hands.

RADIESSE is a wrinkle filler used to plump the skin. It is injected through a small needle and placed under the skin. Immediately, this filler works to add volume under the skin and over time, the benefits of RADIESSE continue by stimulating your body’s own natural collagen. The natural results have been shown to last a year or more in many patients, making the treatment results both immediate and long-lasting.

BELOTERO is an injectable dermal filler with a hyaluronic acid base. Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in your skin. It binds with water, which helps to plump up your skin and make it appear smoother.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

HARNESS YOUR BODY'S OWN GROWTH FACTORS FOR INCREDIBLE
                                 REJUVENATION AND RESTORATION

PRP has been a tried and true treatment used in a variety of medical
specialties for many years, including orthopedics, dentistry, and wound care,
due to its powerful healing and regenerative properties for soft tissue. In
Aesthetics PRP has gained recognition and popularity for skin rejuvenation.

                                 HOW DOES PRP WORK?

Platelets have powerful healing properties, containing growth factors that                                       trigger and regulate cell growth. In PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) treatment, we                                   start with your own blood and use a centrifuge to isolate platelets from the                                     other components. The resulting substance, PRP, contains 3-5 times the                                           number of platelets as regular blood. By strategically reintroducing this                                           platelet-rich plasma to the body, we can harness the benefits of cellular                                           growth and regeneration to aesthetic benefit.

TREATMENT AREAS

Platelet rich plasma can be used in many areas on the face (PRP facial) and body. It is used for overall face, neck, decollete, and hand rejuvenation, stretchmarks on the body, and is a very effective treatment for acne scars.

PRP AND GROWTH FACTOR

When our own PRP is injected into the skin it releases growth factors which stimulate cell growth and new collagen is formed. This new collagen creates healthier, thicker skin with a noticeable reduction in fine lines, wrinkles, scars, stretch marks, discoloration, and general signs of aging.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The process is very simple. We start with drawing a blood sample, just as they do at any lab for a blood test. The blood is then spun in a machine called a centrifuge, which separates the blood into three parts; one of these parts is your PRP.

Once we have obtained your PRP it is injected into the area being treated, which is very similar to Botox or dermal filler injections. If we are using your PRP for skin rejuvenation we will first use a topical numbing cream so the procedure is fairly comfortable, and often incorporate microneedling to the area being treated.

WHAT TO

EXPECT

In order to minimize the risk of possible side effects and complications of injections please follow these simple steps:

Pre-Treatment Instructions for Injectables:

  1. Do NOT consume alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment (alcohol may thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising)

  2. Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medications, if possible for a period of 2 weeks before treatment. Medications and supplements such as vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, ibuprofen, Aleve, aspirin and other NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.

  3. Schedule your filler and neuromodulator (Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, and Jeuveau) appointments at least 2 weeks prior to a special event which you may be attending, such as a wedding or a vacation. Results from the filler and neuromodulator injections may take approximately 4 to 7 days to begin to appear. Also, bruising and swelling may be apparent in that time period.

  4. Please reschedule your appointment with us at least 24 hours in advance if you have a rash, cold sore or blemish in the area.

  5. If you have a history of cold sores please let your provider know, they may prescribe an anti-viral medication prior to treatment.

  6. Be sure to eat and drink before your procedure. This will decrease the chances of lightheadedness during your treatment.

You are not a candidate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Post-treatment Instructions for Dermal Filler:

  • Avoid significant movement or massage of the treated area, unless instructed by your provider.

  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.

  • Avoid extensive sun or heat for 72 hours.

  • Avoid consuming excess amounts of alcohol or salts to avoid excess swelling.

  • If you have swelling you may apply a cool compress for 15 minutes each hour.

  • Use Tylenol for discomfort.

  • Try to sleep face up and slightly elevated if you experience swelling.

  • Take Arnica to help the bruising and swelling, starting at least 2 days prior to injections.

As always, please call us at (919) 263-8510 or email at provider@lunasolmedspa.com if you have further questions.

COVID-19 Vaccine Adverse Reaction

Some patients who have had dermal filler treatments have experienced a rare non-life-threatening reaction after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine (Moderna). Those patients experienced swelling and allergic reactions to the filler treatment sites. The reactions were not severe and in all cases were resolved quickly with the use of oral steroids and/or antihistamines resulting in no long-term adverse effects. We understand that while this reaction is rare, it has occurred before and may occur in myself. You should be observant and seek appropriate medical attention should you experience any similar side effect following your COVID-19 vaccination.

How do I move forward with the treatment?

If you are interested in learning more about Injectable Fillers the first step is to schedule a private consultation with one of our top aestheticians in the comfort of our LunaSol office suites. During this session, your provider will examine your skin, review your medical history, answer your questions and work to fashion a customized treatment plan that will address your unique needs and desires.

Sometimes the provider will suggest other neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau) that work in tandem with Injectable Fillers to give you more comprehensive, age-defying results. We work together to maximize your outcome. In some cases, the combination of fillers may actually be even more effective to achieve your desired look.

The consultation is also a great opportunity to review our vast library of before and after photographs, so that you can anticipate the changes that are possible with your treatment.
